My photographs document Japanese culture, country and people. I try to be as close to - and communicate as much as possible with - the people in order to understand how they live and how they perceive the world around them and make sense of it. I engage with the people and let them tell their story for themselves.
In order to be accurate and comprehensive in the representation of subjects and events, the majority of my photographs are not altered and not photoshopped. Also, my photographs are collected as series in folders, so as to provide their context.
I do not stereotype individuals or groups.
My primary role is to document in my photographs the culture, country and people of Japan - faithfully and comprehensively.
Passionate, engaged, involved, and curious... about Japan and its people.
